8-10am Morning Practice Pranayama, Asana, Meditation:
Every morning there will be a 2 hour practice, beginning with pranayama (breathing practice) followed by a vigorous vinyasa class and finishing with a guided meditation. The pranayama practice will be designed to prepare the body and mind to begin the day, stimulating the circulatory system while relaxing the nervous system. The vinyasa practice will warm up and invigorate the body, generating a little sweat. Each vinyasa class will focus on a different area of asana while at the same time offering a complete practice, lengthening and strengthening the entire body. After doing pranayama and asana the mind is in the perfect state to sit for meditation. Each morning practice will then be completed with a seated guided meditation. In guided meditation we will focus on finding the space between the thoughts helping us to begin sorting through the clutter of the mind. Each of these morning practices will be designed to align the body, breath and mind leaving us feeling physically relaxed but mentally alert and inspired.
A beautiful vegetarian brunch will follow our morning practice, including a delicious vegetarian spread of local delicacies and foods grown on Agricola Samadhi the organic farm in which, Yoga in Salento is located.
10.30am – 4.00pm Free Time
4.00pm -6.00pm Afternoon Practice followed by vegetarian dinner
Each afternoon (except the day off) we will do a slightly different practice. Our practices will include the following:
Restorative Yoga is the art of doing less while receiving more. In restorative yoga we put the body into a variety of yoga asanas that are fully supported by yoga props allowing the body to fully relax into the asana and letting you to be there for some time to focus on the breath. This style of Yoga practice is designed to restore health and alignment to all the organs and body systems. Restorative Yoga asanas stimulate and pacify various areas of the body inducing a deep state of relaxation.
We will choose a few areas of asana practice to explore more deeply in a workshop setting. Examining in depth the asanas that tend to be challenging for us allows us to and explore the asana from many angles finding the necessary work and points of access. In these workshops we will break down the asanas into smaller steps, finding the work along the way and then putting the pieces back together again. Topics for these workshops could include, backbends, inversions, hip opening or arm balances to name a few.
We will finish each afternoon session with Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra is Yoga sleep and similar to a guided meditation. Yoga Nidra induces theta brain waves, inducing a deep state of relaxation and allowing us to work on patterns that are deeply routed in our consciousness. In Yoga Nidra we choose an intention to work towards and when we do the same Yoga Nidra each day deep transformation is possible.
Sound Therapy: Tibetan Singing Bowls and Kirtan:
In addition to the above classes and workshops, we will use Tibetan singing bowls therapeutically. The sound and vibration of the bowls harmonizes and equalizes the vibration in the body producing a deep therapeutic effect. In each class and in the evenings we will have the opportunity to practice chanting in Sanskrit. The vibrations induced in the brain when chanting in Sanskrit are deeply therapeutic and have the power to change the state of our minds. These vibrations are uplifting and have the power to make us feel more aligned and unified.
Life Coaching Sessions with Simone:
Simone will be giving mini life coaching sessions during free time. In these sessions you will discover an area of your life where you feel unfulfilled, where you aren’t reaching your full potential. Simone will work with you on ways to increase your satisfaction in these areas of your life and help you to discover possibilities you hadn’t previously considered.
